FAQ
At Dancing in Scotland, we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our customers' needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If you do not find an answer to your question here, please Contact Me
[Q] Why is my dance not shown in the Dance Diary? [A] No details have been notified to me.
[Q] How much does it cost to list my dance? [A] Nothing. All entries are FREE of charge.
[Q] Will my dance be advertised anywhere else? [A] Both the ‘Dance On’ and the ‘Box & Fiddle’ magazine publish monthly dance lists compiled from these pages. Larger adverts can be inserted by contacting the magazines directly from the Links page.
[Q] Why can’t I see the Newsletters to download them? [A] You need to click on the Country Dance button and this will reveal the Downloads Page where the Newsletters are stored.
[Q] When I print the page there are some parts of the page missing? [A] Blame Microsoft for this fault as it only happens if you are printing using Internet Explorer 6. To fix it, set your printer page to Landscape before printing. A permanent solution would be to install another Browser such as Opera (it’s now free) or Firefox or download the new Internet Explorer 7 RC1. These all print properly in Portrait format without having to change your printer settings.
[Q] Where can I get these alternative Browsers? [A] For IE 7 (only works on systems running Windows XP or similar) https://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
Opera http://www.opera.com/ (all operating systems) (I am using Version 9 and it’s very good with no problems)
Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ (all operating systems)
[Q] I don’t like the font on the web page. [A] Well that’s easily fixed. Your browser displays the font YOU set it for. Most web sites use the default browser compatible, serif type face Times New Roman (Browser Proportional), as recommended for legibility. Read more here
To change the font in Internet Explorer click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. then click Fonts at the bottom of the General tab and set the font YOU wish to see. YOU control the font not the website designer.
If you want to have the fonts and colors you specify in Internet Explorer to be used for all websites, regardless of the fonts that have been set by the website designer, follow these steps:-
- In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
- On the General tab, click Accessibility.
- Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages, Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages check boxes, and then click OK twice.
A similar procedure applies to other Browsers e.g. in Opera click on Tools then Preferences then the Web Pages tab and click on the displayed font to change it.
